Lance Blagg went down to Texas and represented well at the NAGA event on February 20th. Lance went 3-2 on the day, placing 3rd in no-gi and 2nd in the gi (losing both times to the same 4-stripe blue belt). In the gi finals Lance had the score tied up 0-0, but lost on advantages.
Eli Rodriguez lost to Rachel Munro via unanimous decision. Eli Came out strong winning the first round. Munro would go on to take the second and third rounds as Eli’s cardio began to fade. Joe O’Neill defeated Justin Woehler via unanimous decision. The fight was scheduled as Muay Thai rules. Joe came out and downed his opponent with knees to the body from thai clinch within the first 15 seconds of the fight. His corner refused to do Muay Thai rules afterward so Joe agreed to continue on under low kick rules. Joe won every round and put woehler down 3 times; once with a sweep and twice with leg kicks.
JW Wright’s tournament was a pretty awesome event. There was a great turnout, especially for blue belts:
Robert Drysdale showed up and did a demo, in addition to a superfight between a couple of upper belts at the beginning of the tournament. Videos of that will get uploaded to the Video section soon.
Springfield Fight Club had a pretty good turnout too:
There was also a solid turnout from Gracie Barra Springfield, Illinois, so there was a lot of GB around.
Congrats to Doug Smith for winning his division in gi, Kyle Swadley for winning his division in no gi, and Chris Chambers for winning his division in no gi (and 2nd place in his gi division)!

Rick and Gabe gave out some stripes at tonight’s class.
Congrats to everybody who’s sporting some extra tape on their belts. A good reminder for folks who care about that stuff to show up to some night classes, and bring their gi (complete with a BJJ belt).
Springfield Fight Club will be hosting Heath Herring for a seminar Thursday, February 4th 6-8pm cost is $50.00 . The seminar will be MMA with an emphasis on Muay Thai. We’d like to thank Lance Burns of Ringside Bar and Grill in Lebanon for making the seminar possible.
Heath Herring is an MMA fighter who practices sambo and muay thai. He currently lives in Las Vegas and trains at Warrior Training Center under the Dutch Kickboxing/Muay Thai legend Rob Kaman. Herring is a long time veteran in PRIDE, where he participated in 17 fights. He took part in the first Heavyweight title fight against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira where he lost by unanimous decision. Despite his earlier championship
